Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Meets Italian Senate President to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

BakuNovember 27, 2025 – The Europe Today: As part of his official visit to Italy, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with Ignazio La Russa, President of the Italian Senate, to discuss the ongoing development of Azerbaijan-Italy relations.

During the meeting, both sides hailed the dynamic growth of bilateral ties, which have attained the level of strategic partnership. They emphasized that in recent years, relations founded on mutual trust, shared interests, and active political dialogue have further deepened.

The officials also highlighted the expansion of multifaceted cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy across key areas, including policy, defense and security, economy and trade, energy and renewable energy, humanitarian assistance, tourism, culture, and education.

Minister Bayramov noted that the participation of the Italian President in the inauguration of the Italy-Azerbaijan University and the attendance of the Italian Prime Minister at the COP29 Leaders’ Summit in Azerbaijan, alongside other high-level contacts, have provided additional momentum to bilateral relations.

The two leaders underscored the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations and continuous political dialogue as essential for the future development of ties. They noted that parliamentary diplomacy plays a crucial role in reinforcing institutional cooperation and enhancing mutual support on regional and international platforms.

Minister Bayramov also briefed President La Russa on post-conflict developments following the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, including efforts to ensure regional peace and stability, as well as large-scale restoration, reconstruction, and reintegration initiatives in the liberated territories, with participation of Italian companies in these projects.

The discussions also covered the regional security environment, multilateral cooperation frameworks, issues on the international agenda, and other matters of mutual interest.
