Kuala Lumpur, November 29, 2025 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was granted an audience on Saturday (Nov 29) with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, to discuss the nation’s economic direction and Johor’s development prospects.
According to the Prime Minister, the engagement took place following the launch of the Maharani Freeport in Tanjung Emas, Muar. Discussions also centred on the importance of ensuring balanced growth across all Malaysian states.
Anwar noted that he reiterated the Madani Government’s commitment to enhancing national competitiveness, ensuring that development initiatives deliver tangible benefits to people in all regions. “I also shared the Madani Government’s commitment to strengthening the country’s competitiveness, so that every development initiative can provide actual spillover benefits that can be felt by the people in every corner of this country,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
Earlier the same day, Sultan Ibrahim consented to officiate the launch of Malaysia’s first duty-free energy freeport — the Maharani Freeport — situated within the Maharani Energy Gateway (MEG) Complex in Tanjung Emas, Muar.
