Turkmen Foreign Minister, EU High Representative Discuss Bilateral Ties Ahead of Peace and Trust Forum

Ashgabat, December 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov held a telephonic conversation on December 5 with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms. Kaja Kallas.

During the discussion, Ms. Kallas extended her warm congratulations to Turkmenistan on the 30th anniversary of its permanent Neutrality. She emphasized the significance of Turkmenistan’s neutral foreign policy, noting its valuable contribution to strengthening global peace, stability, and sustainable development.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the steady advancement of the multifaceted Turkmenistan–EU dialogue. They reviewed a broad spectrum of issues on the bilateral agenda and underlined the importance of existing cooperation mechanisms, particularly within the EU–Turkmenistan Joint Committee format.

The upcoming International Forum of Peace and Trust, scheduled to take place on December 12 in Ashgabat, received special attention. The parties highlighted the relevance of the event in promoting dialogue, confidence-building, and international cooperation.

The conversation reaffirmed the shared commitment of Turkmenistan and the European Union to further deepening their partnership across priority areas of mutual interest.
