Paris

Paris, December 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: A new alley honoring the distinguished Romanian diplomat Nicolae Titulescu was officially inaugurated on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, in Parc Monceau, Paris. The ceremony was attended by Romanian President Nicușor Dan and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo.

President Dan described the naming of the alley as “the newest memorial site in the rich series of Romanian landmarks in the French capital.” He highlighted the tribute’s relevance amid ongoing global conflicts, stating that it is particularly significant “in these times, when we still do not see the end of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.” The Romanian leader also recalled Titulescu’s legacy as a diplomat and former President of the League of Nations, who “fought tirelessly for negotiation to replace aggression and for peace and reason to prevail over violence.”

During the visit, President Dan and Mayor Hidalgo discussed ongoing and future Romanian–French cooperation across multiple sectors, including economy, education, and advanced technologies. Both officials underscored the historic cultural and diplomatic ties between Bucharest and Paris and emphasized the important role of the Romanian community in Paris in strengthening bilateral relations.

By naming the alley after Titulescu, French authorities have formalized a symbolic recognition of Romania’s diplomatic heritage in one of Paris’s prestigious urban parks. The initiative coincides with the celebration of 145 years of Franco–Romanian diplomatic relations, reinforcing the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
