Iran’s President Pezeshkian Begins State Visit to Kazakhstan, Set to Attend Regional Forum in Turkmenistan

Astana, December 11, 2025 – The Europe Today: Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian arrived in Astana on Wednesday for a state visit at the invitation of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, marking a new phase in efforts to strengthen Tehran–Astana relations.

President Pezeshkian was welcomed with an official ceremony hosted by President Tokayev before the two leaders proceeded to bilateral talks at the presidential palace. Their meeting will be followed by a joint session of high-level delegations aimed at reviewing priority areas of cooperation and identifying new opportunities to expand political, economic, and cultural ties.

Following the talks, both presidents will attend a formal signing ceremony for a series of cooperation documents. They are also expected to address reporters together to outline the key outcomes of their discussions.

Engagements in Kazakhstan

During his stay in Kazakhstan, President Pezeshkian will visit one of the country’s leading medical universities, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech highlighting prospects for scientific and educational cooperation.

He will also participate in a joint business forum bringing together Iranian and Kazakh entrepreneurs, traders, and investors. The event is expected to focus on expanding commercial partnerships, developing transit and energy routes, and enhancing bilateral trade.

Next Stop: Turkmenistan

After concluding his engagements in Kazakhstan, President Pezeshkian will travel to Turkmenistan for the second leg of his Central Asian tour. He has been invited by Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to attend the World Peace and Trust Forum in Ashgabat.

The regional tour underscores Iran’s efforts to deepen cooperation with Central Asian nations, strengthen economic connectivity, and contribute to broader regional dialogue on peace and development.
