Moscow, December 11, 2025 – The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto extended a direct invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin to undertake an official visit to Indonesia during a bilateral meeting at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Wednesday.
The meeting followed President Prabowo’s engagements in Islamabad with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Prabowo and Putin last met in St. Petersburg in June 2025.
“On this occasion, I would like to invite Your Excellency, President Putin, to Indonesia, either in 2026 or 2027. We hope that Mr. President will visit Indonesia,” President Prabowo stated during a livestream broadcast on his secretariat’s YouTube channel.
Adding a lighthearted note, he encouraged President Putin to extend his overseas itinerary beyond India and include Indonesia in his travel plans. “Please, don’t stop at India. We sincerely look forward to your visit to Indonesia,” he said, as the two leaders shared a brief laugh.
President Putin responded warmly, expressing his appreciation and confirming his intention to reciprocate the visit. “Thank you very much. I will definitely come to Indonesia. It would be a pleasure, thank you very much,” he told President Prabowo, according to Russian media outlet RIA Novosti.
During the discussion, President Prabowo also emphasized his recent engagements with Russian officials and business representatives at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, noting promising prospects for future collaboration.
“I have linked Russian representatives with our country’s industrial and business entities, and I believe the talks have led to numerous positive follow-up steps,” he said, referring to his November meetings with representatives from Russia’s Sistema Group, accompanied by Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov. The discussions explored cooperation in key sectors, including pharmaceuticals and shipbuilding.
Indonesian Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Rosan Roeslani, stated that the Moscow talks continued the momentum of President Prabowo’s official visit to St. Petersburg last June.
