Turkmenistan

Riyadh, December 15, 2025 – The Europe Today: A delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov, participated in the 11th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), held on December 14, 2025, in Riyadh.

The forum, convened under the theme “UNAOC: Two Decades of Dialogue for Humanity: Advancing a New Era of Mutual Respect and Understanding in a Multipolar World,” brought together representatives of national governments, youth and women leaders, as well as civil society institutions and media organizations from across the globe.

The event served as an important platform for the exchange of views, ideas, and experiences aimed at strengthening global peace, promoting dialogue, and advancing intercultural values in the context of evolving international relations.

Addressing the forum, Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov underscored the growing relevance of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations amid increasing polarization and a crisis of trust in international affairs. He noted that the Alliance’s mission aligns closely with Turkmenistan’s initiative to proclaim 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.

In this context, Gurbanov presented Turkmenistan’s proposals for joint initiatives with the UNAOC, including the promotion of a culture of peace and mediation, the expansion of humanitarian and intercultural dialogue, the establishment of regional and youth platforms for peacebuilding cooperation, and efforts to strengthen trust and mutual understanding among peoples.

The forum concluded with the adoption of the Riyadh Declaration, which outlines the next stage in the development and activities of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.
