Washington, December 17, 2025 – The Europe Today: The White House announced on Tuesday that the U.S. travel ban has been extended to five additional countries, with restrictions also imposed on several others, according to media reports.
The Trump administration stated that citizens of Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, and Syria are now prohibited from entering the United States. Additionally, travel for individuals holding Palestinian Authority-issued documents has been fully restricted.
Officials said the expanded restrictions are part of ongoing efforts to tighten U.S. entry standards for travel and immigration. The announcement comes in the wake of the arrest of an Afghan national suspected in the shooting of two National Guard troops over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Earlier, in June, President Donald Trump had imposed a travel ban on citizens of 12 countries, with restrictions on visitors from seven others, marking a continuation of a signature policy from his first term.
