Uzbekistan, Tajikistan Strengthen Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation

Tashkent, December 18, 2025 – The Europe Today: During the third meeting of the heads of parliaments of Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea, Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, met with Aziz Qodir Giyozoda, Deputy Chairperson of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, to discuss the outcomes of the gathering and bilateral parliamentary cooperation.

The officials reviewed the significance of the Agreement on Cooperation between the upper chambers of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, noting the productive work of the Joint Commission and the active participation of delegations in international forums.

Chairperson Narbayeva congratulated the Tajik side on the successful hosting of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly plenary session in Dushanbe on October 13-14, highlighting that the reception of the Uzbekistan parliamentary delegation by President of Tajikistan reflects the high level of trust and constructive cooperation between the two countries. The discussion also focused on expanding women’s participation in socio-political life.

Both sides agreed to strengthen inter-parliamentary dialogue and enhance interregional cooperation, including expanding the activities of parliamentary friendship groups, exchanging legislative experience, and intensifying collaboration in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and environmental sectors.
