Tokyo, December 19, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Japan’s Emperor Naruhito in Tokyo during an official working visit, Turkmenistan newspaper reported on Friday.
During the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov noted that this was his second meeting with Emperor Naruhito this year and expressed confidence that the ongoing dialogue would serve as an important step toward further expanding bilateral cooperation. He also congratulated the Emperor on the successful conclusion of the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, highlighting its significance as a global platform for innovation and international cooperation.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of Turkmen–Japanese relations and reaffirmed their readiness to deepen cooperation in a range of priority areas, including high technology, renewable energy, information solutions, and sustainable development. The Turkmen side showed particular interest in Japan’s advanced expertise in environmental safety, green energy, water resource management, and ecological technologies.
The two sides also confirmed their willingness to strengthen collaboration in science and education, culture, and scientific and academic exchanges, underscoring the importance of people-to-people contacts in reinforcing bilateral ties.
President Berdimuhamedov and Emperor Naruhito had previously met in Tokyo on April 15, 2025, reflecting the steady intensification of high-level dialogue between Turkmenistan and Japan.
