Jakarta, December 21, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working in close synergy with all elements of the nation to overcome challenges, highlighting Indonesia’s resilience in the aftermath of major floods and landslides that struck parts of Sumatra Island.
Addressing the public in Serang, Banten, on December 20, President Prabowo said the nation must face future challenges with courage and unity. “We face the future with courage. Yes, there will be problems and challenges, but we all must unite, working hand in hand to address them,” he stated.
The remarks were delivered during a nationwide mass signing ceremony for 50,030 subsidized home loans under the People’s Housing Credit (FLPP) scheme. On the occasion, the president stressed that Indonesia, as a diverse country comprising hundreds of ethnic groups, must remain united and resilient in confronting difficulties.
President Prabowo assured the public that the state is making all-out efforts to handle the impact of the natural disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. He noted that the central and regional governments, alongside the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police, are working jointly to serve affected communities during the emergency period.
According to the president, this strong coordination has led to significant improvements in disaster response efforts across the three provinces, rekindling hope for a swift recovery. He praised emergency personnel for their tireless work in establishing urgently needed temporary infrastructure, including the rapid installation of emergency bridges that restored land access within a week—projects that would normally take up to a month to complete.
The head of state also highlighted ongoing emergency measures in remote and hard-to-reach areas, emphasizing the government’s efforts to ensure equitable distribution of essential goods and equipment. He noted that helicopters have been deployed to overcome difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.
Reflecting on Indonesia’s long history marked by struggles for independence, foreign interventions, and ideological conflicts, President Prabowo expressed confidence in the nation’s resilience and fortitude. He said Indonesia possesses the strength and unity needed to withstand challenges and emerge stronger.
