Ashgabat, December 25, 2025 – The Europe Today: The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, made a working visit to the Balkan province on Wednesday to review preparations for international events scheduled to be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in 2026, according to Turkmenistan’s state media.
During the visit, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty toured facilities along the Caspian coast designated for international forums, conferences, and exhibitions. The inspection focused on infrastructure readiness, the architectural design of the complexes, landscaping, and the technical equipment of the venues.
Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the organization of the upcoming events must meet high international standards and be supported by digital solutions, modern communication systems, and innovative technologies. He underlined the importance of accelerating preparatory work and making full use of global best practices.
Officials from relevant agencies presented modernization projects, detailed plans for hosting the 2026 international forum, and updates on ongoing construction and finishing works. It was reported that the projects are being implemented by domestic construction companies in strict accordance with established deadlines and quality requirements.
Special attention was given to the preparation of exhibition venues, which Berdimuhamedov said should clearly demonstrate achievements across all sectors of the national economy, as well as progress in social protection and development.
As part of the visit, the National Leader also conducted an aerial inspection of the Avaza National Tourist Zone by helicopter, reviewing transport and energy infrastructure in the region and assessing overall development dynamics.
The Avaza National Tourist Zone is a major resort area on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea, located approximately 12 kilometers from the city of Turkmenbashi. The first facilities of the tourist zone were commissioned in June 2009.
