Ottawa, December 28, 2025 — The Europe Today: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Saturday announced an additional $2.5 billion in economic assistance for Ukraine, reaffirming Canada’s continued support for Kyiv amid ongoing challenges, according to media reports.
Speaking alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Prime Minister Carney said the new aid package would help Ukraine unlock further financing from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and strengthen its economic resilience.
President Zelenskiy also briefly addressed reporters, expressing appreciation for Canada’s sustained political and financial backing. The newly announced assistance adds to Canada’s broader commitment to supporting Ukraine’s economic stability and recovery efforts.
