Islamabad, December 28, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Muslim and Arab countries, in a joint statement, have unequivocally rejected Israel’s recognition of the “Somaliland” region of the Federal Republic of Somalia, warning that such an unprecedented move carries serious repercussions for peace and security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, with broader implications for international peace and security.

The joint statement was shared with the media on Sunday by the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement was issued by the Foreign Ministers of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Union of the Comoros, the Republic of Djibouti, the Republic of The Gambia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Iraq, the State of Kuwait, the State of Libya, the Republic of Maldives, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Sultanate of Oman, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Republic of the Sudan, the Republic of Türkiye, the Republic of Yemen, as well as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

In the statement, the ministers condemned in the strongest terms Israel’s recognition of Somaliland, describing it as a grave violation of the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, which explicitly emphasizes the protection of state sovereignty and territorial integrity. They said the move reflected Israel’s “full and blatant disregard” for international law and underscored its expansionist policies.

The ministers reaffirmed their full support for the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia and reiterated their unequivocal rejection of any actions or measures that undermine Somalia’s unity, territorial integrity, or sovereignty over its entire territory.

They further emphasized that the recognition of parts of sovereign states sets a dangerous precedent, threatens international peace and security, and violates the cardinal principles of international law and the UN Charter.

The joint statement also categorically rejected any potential linkage between Israel’s recognition of Somaliland and attempts to forcibly expel the Palestinian people from their land, stressing that such actions are unequivocally rejected in all forms as a matter of principle.
