Islamabad, December 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: H.E. Dr. Oumer Hussein Oba, Ambassador-designate of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mohammed Karmoune, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco and Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps in Islamabad, on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the two sides held a productive discussion on issues of mutual interest, exploring strategic avenues to further strengthen bilateral relations and enhance regional cooperation between Ethiopia and Morocco. The talks also reflected a shared commitment to deepening engagement within the broader African diplomatic framework.
Ambassador-designate Dr. Oumer briefed the Dean of the African Group on Ethiopia’s pivotal role in promoting Pan-Africanism, highlighting the country’s landmark initiatives aimed at advancing regional integration and sustainable development. These include the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), the Green Legacy Initiative, and the Yelemat Tirufat (Bounty of the Basket) program.
He further underscored Ethiopia’s leadership in global climate action, noting the country’s selection to host the 32nd Conference of the Parties (COP32) in 2027, which reflects international recognition of Ethiopia’s commitment to environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
Ambassador Mohammed Karmoune commended Ethiopia’s visionary development and climate initiatives, praising its strong commitment to regional integration and cooperation. He assured Dr. Oumer of his full support in strengthening bilateral, regional, and multilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and Morocco, as well as within African and international platforms.
