Jakarta, December 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: Indonesia achieved a remarkable milestone in 2025, recording zero terrorist attacks for the third consecutive year, thanks to the proactive efforts of the Indonesian Police’s Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) counterterrorism unit.
Speaking at the Police’s year-end briefing on Tuesday, Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Chief Commissioner General Syahardiantono highlighted that Densus 88’s rigorous law enforcement has maintained the country’s “zero terrorist attack” status from 2023 to 2025.
In 2025, the unit arrested 51 terror-related suspects, down from 55 in 2024 and 147 in 2023, effectively suppressing threats and maintaining national stability, he noted.
Notable successes included foiling four planned attacks by the Jamaah Anshor Daulah militant group and uncovering online terror indoctrination targeting 110 children across 23 provinces, resulting in five arrests.
During the ongoing Christmas and New Year security operations, Densus 88 also apprehended seven terror-related suspects. Additionally, the corps assisted 68 children from 18 provinces exposed to far-right and violent ideologies, including neo-Nazism and white supremacy from the “true crime community” (TCC). Many of these children were reportedly proficient in dangerous weapons and had plans to attack their schools and classmates.
Commissioner General Syahardiantono emphasized that Densus 88’s proactive and preventive measures have been critical in safeguarding Indonesia’s security and promoting public safety nationwide.
