Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan Leaders Highlight Strong Momentum in Bilateral Partnership

Ashgabat, December 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: On December 29, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

At the start of the conversation, the leaders exchanged warm congratulations on the upcoming New Year and extended sincere wishes for peace and prosperity to the peoples of both countries. President Mirziyoyev also conveyed cordial greetings to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the discussion, the leaders reviewed current issues related to further developing friendship, good-neighbourliness, and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, in line with previously agreed high-level frameworks. The ongoing active contacts at all levels were noted with satisfaction.

Trade turnover and freight volumes between the two countries are showing dynamic growth, while cooperation in energy, industry, agriculture, water management, and transport continues to expand. The recently launched cross-border trade zone “Shavat – Dashoguz” was highlighted as a significant milestone. Interregional, business, cultural, and humanitarian exchanges were also intensified.

The leaders exchanged views on key aspects of regional cooperation and underscored the successful organization of major summits in Avaza, as well as a forum in Ashgabat dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust.

Looking ahead, the schedule of meetings for the upcoming year was reviewed, and an agreement was reached to continue the joint organization of international and regional events, further consolidating the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
