Azerbaijani Defense Minister Meets U.S. Delegation to Discuss Military Cooperation

Baku, January 5, 2026 – The Europe Today: On January 4, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, met with U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-Oklahoma), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, along with other visiting members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Defense in Baku, provided an opportunity to review the current state and prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United States. Colonel General Hasanov expressed satisfaction with the strong ties between the two countries, noting their importance for mutual security and cooperation.

Senator Mullin highlighted that mutual visits and meetings in various formats play a key role in expanding and strengthening bilateral relations.

During the discussions, both sides examined opportunities for cooperation in the military, military-technical, and military educational fields. The delegation and Minister Hasanov also engaged in a broad exchange of views on other matters of shared interest, underscoring the commitment of both countries to further enhance defense collaboration.
