Paris, January 7, 2026 – The Europe Today: President Nicuşor Dan on Tuesday warned that the current international situation requires stability at home, stressing that “this is not the time for revolutions or destabilization in Romania.”
The head of state made the remarks aboard a Spartan military aircraft while traveling to Paris to attend the meeting of the Coalition of the Will. Speaking to journalists, President Dan underlined the importance of gradual and measured change, saying that Romania should avoid actions that could undermine stability.
“We are in a difficult international context, and it is not the time for revolutions or destabilization in Romania,” he said, adding that he favors “a gradual change” for the country.
President Dan also voiced confidence in the continuity of governance, stating that he is counting on the stability of the ruling coalition this year. “Categorically, yes,” he replied when asked whether he expects the governing coalition to remain stable.
His comments came as Paris hosts one of the year’s most significant international meetings focused on Ukraine’s future. The Coalition of the Will, comprising 31 countries allied with Kyiv, is convening at the Élysée Palace, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in attendance. The United States is represented by Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.
The discussions are expected to focus on security guarantees for Ukraine and plans for the country’s post-war reconstruction.
