Ashgabat, January 8, 2026 – The Europe Today: On January 8, 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted the presentation ceremony of the collection of poems by the eminent Eastern thinker and classical poet Magtymguly Fragi, translated into the Romanian language.
The event was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, Turkmen diplomats posted abroad, faculty members and students of the Institute, as well as representatives of the media.
Speeches were delivered by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Myahri Byashimova; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Turkmenistan Ion Naval; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Romania Annamammet Annayev; Rector of the Institute of International Relations Gulshat Yusupova; research fellow at the Institute of Language, Literature, and National Manuscripts Nargul Atasheva; lecturer at Turkmen State University Lyale Ashirova; and Vice-Rector of the Institute Begench Matliyev.
The speakers highlighted that the work of Magtymguly Fragi continues to captivate audiences worldwide, transcending centuries. His poetry, promoting patriotism, peace, humanism, goodwill, fraternal relations, mutual trust, and respect, remains highly relevant in the modern era.
Emphasizing the role of culture and humanitarian initiatives in fostering interstate relations, the speakers underlined that translating Magtymguly Fragi’s works into Romanian serves as a significant step in strengthening friendly ties between Turkmenistan and Romania. It offers the Romanian people an opportunity to engage deeply with the rich literary heritage of Turkmenistan.
Participants expressed confidence that the event will provide a meaningful impetus for enhancing cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two nations and highlighted its importance in promoting Turkmenistan’s cultural heritage, enduring values, and national art.
