Morocco, Spain, and Germany Hold Trilateral Police Chiefs’ Meeting in Rabat

Germany

Rabat, January 9, 2026 – The Europe Today: Rabat on Thursday hosted the annual trilateral meeting of police chiefs from Morocco, Spain, and Germany, underscoring the three countries’ commitment to strengthening high-level security cooperation and coordinated responses to shared challenges.

The meeting was chaired by Abdellatif Hammouchi, General Director of Morocco’s National Police and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGSN), alongside Francisco Pardo Piqueras, General Director of the Spanish National Police, and Dieter Roman, General Director of the German Federal Police.

The talks formed part of an official visit by Spanish and German delegations to Morocco from January 7 to 9, aimed at enhancing operational coordination and intelligence sharing among the three countries. The trilateral dialogue builds on the first meeting held in Madrid in January 2025, reflecting a shared commitment to institutionalizing security cooperation.

Discussions focused on strengthening operational and intelligence collaboration in key areas, including counterterrorism, irregular migration, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and the coordination of security for major international sporting events.

Senior officials also reviewed regional security developments, particularly in the Sahel and Sahara regions, and assessed their implications for terrorist activity across the Euro-Mediterranean area. The meeting stressed the importance of sustained intelligence sharing and coordinated operations to safeguard regional and international stability.

The trilateral talks further explored opportunities to expand cooperation, notably in joint preparedness for upcoming major sporting events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Moroccan authorities briefed the visiting delegations on security and safety measures implemented for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

As part of the program, the delegations visited the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, where Moroccan officials presented security arrangements, public safety protocols, and the use of digital technologies in law enforcement during football matches. The visitors also toured the African Security Cooperation Center, a pioneering initiative for football events in Africa, which highlights advanced technological capabilities and promotes collaboration between Moroccan security services and international partners in managing stadium security and crowd control.

The meeting concluded with an affirmation that regular trilateral consultations reflect a shared vision of reinforcing cross-border security partnerships through real-time information exchange, operational coordination, and enhanced technical cooperation among the law enforcement agencies of Morocco, Spain, and Germany.
