Ashgabat, January 10, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkmenistan has set the successful implementation of the Serhetabat–Herat section of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) pipeline, also known as Arkadagyň ak ýoly, as one of the top priorities for the country’s oil and gas sector in 2026, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Amanov stated at a government meeting on Friday.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Amanov’s report, another key focus for the sector will be the next phase of development at the Galkynysh gas field, one of the world’s largest natural gas deposits.
State concerns Türkmengaz and Türkmennebit have been tasked with developing oil and gas fields, producing natural and associated gas, crude oil, and gas condensate, manufacturing liquefied gas, exporting Turkmen “blue fuel” to international markets, and processing oil for domestic and foreign consumers.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of steadily increasing oil and gas production while ensuring the efficient use of capacities across sector enterprises.
The government meeting also addressed several other key national issues, with decisions adopted to advance Turkmenistan’s socio-economic and energy development goals.
