Arkadag, January 11, 2026 – The Europe Today: National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Saturday reviewed design plans for industrial enterprises of the medical cluster during a working visit to the city of Arkadag. The visit also included an inspection of progress on the second phase of construction of the new city.
According to Turkmenistan’s state media, Berdimuhamedov was presented with site layout schemes and received briefings on the current stages of construction and development of the medical cluster.
As part of the visit, the chairman of the Halk Maslahaty chaired a meeting focused on accelerating construction works. The meeting was attended by executives from Japan’s Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd. and Sumitomo Heavy Industries Plastics Machinery, South Korea’s EM Korea Co. Ltd. and Korea Meditech Co. Ltd., as well as representatives of the Turkmenbashi oil refining complex, the Kiyanly polymer plant, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, and Garagum Economic Society, which is involved in the construction of the medical cluster and the installation of production facilities. Heads of Turkmenistan’s embassies to Japan and the Republic of Korea also participated.
During the meeting, participants were presented with quality and environmental safety certificates for locally sourced raw materials and finished products, along with documentation confirming compliance with international ISO standards.
Berdimuhamedov said the medical cluster is designed to fully meet domestic demand for medical products, with plans to expand into export markets under the “Made in Turkmenistan” brand.
Representatives of the foreign companies noted that the equipment being introduced, which is being used for the first time in Central Asia, meets international standards and will be operated in full compliance with technological requirements.
