Malaysia

Petaling Jaya, January 13, 2026 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to remain actively involved in international humanitarian efforts to defend the rights of the Palestinian people amid the worsening crisis in Gaza.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Tuesday (Jan 13), Anwar said the Madani government would be directly involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0, describing it as part of a broader international moral struggle that requires courage in upholding justice and humanitarian principles beyond borders, race and religion.

“We will mobilise all our efforts to help and defend the rights of the Palestinian people. This justice can no longer be delayed, for the sake of a dignified and independent Palestine,” he said.

The prime minister said he had earlier received a courtesy call at Perdana Putra from Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Sani Araby, who is also the chief humanitarian activist of the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (Mapim), along with Nadir Al-Nuri, founder of Sumud Nusantara.

According to Anwar, the discussions covered the escalating humanitarian situation in Gaza, ongoing aid sanctions, the uncertainty surrounding the conflict, and the continued suffering faced by the Palestinian people. The meeting also touched on upcoming humanitarian initiatives, including Malaysia’s key role in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0, which is expected to involve participants from more than 80 countries.

Anwar added that Datuk Sani and Nadir also shared the achievements of the Sumud Nusantara Mission, which he said had succeeded in breaking the silence of the international community and amplifying Gaza’s voice on the global stage.

The prime minister reiterated that Malaysia would continue to play an active role in international humanitarian efforts in support of Palestine and the Palestinian people.
