UAE Heritage Festivals Emerge as Global Platform for Cultural Dialogue and Tolerance

UAE

Abu Dhabi, January 25, 2026 – The Europe Today: Heritage festivals organised by the United Arab Emirates have evolved into a distinctive cultural and humanitarian platform that brings together civilisations and shared human experiences, reflecting the country’s values of openness and tolerance.

These festivals highlight the UAE’s ability to build strong bridges of communication between the past and the present, while integrating local and global dimensions in a manner that strengthens mutual understanding and promotes cultural dialogue.

Beyond their celebratory nature, the festivals have become dynamic spaces for intercultural exchange, contributing to greater understanding among peoples by showcasing the diversity of arts, customs and traditions. Through folkloric performances, traditional arts and crafts, and a wide range of cultural activities from around the world, visitors are offered an opportunity to explore a rich and multifaceted human heritage.

In this context, the Sheikh Zayed Festival 2026 presents a vivid portrayal of African heritage, featuring traditional handicrafts and products made from natural materials such as baskets, fabrics and heritage dolls. The exhibits also include skincare products, household items and musical instruments crafted from palm fronds, leather, fur and animal horns, providing visitors with a comprehensive sensory and educational experience that reflects the history of peoples, their cultural identity and the deep connection between humanity, nature and culture.

Sara Melis, owner of a natural materials project from Ethiopia, told the media that the African pavilion at the Sheikh Zayed Festival reflects the richness and diversity of the continent’s heritage through exhibits representing several African countries, most notably Madagascar, Ghana, Ethiopia and Senegal. She noted that the displays enable visitors to learn about traditional crafts and authentic products that carry the distinctive cultural identity of each country.
