Azerbaijan, Türkiye Strengthen Prosecutorial Cooperation During Istanbul Meeting

Istanbul, February 9, 2026 – The Europe Today: As part of his official visit to Türkiye, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev held talks with Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek at the Çağlayan Palace of Justice.

During the meeting, Kamran Aliyev expressed his appreciation for the invitation and warm hospitality, highlighting the close ties, unity, and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. He emphasized the importance of further strengthening institutional cooperation between the prosecutorial authorities of the two nations.

Akın Gürlek welcomed the Azerbaijani delegation and praised the steady development of relations between the prosecutor’s offices of Azerbaijan and Türkiye. He also recalled his previous visit to Azerbaijan as a memorable experience that contributed to closer professional engagement.

The discussions focused on cooperation in combating various forms of crime, including mutual legal assistance in criminal cases. The sides also exchanged views on enhancing legal and institutional collaboration, as well as organizing reciprocal study tours and experience-sharing initiatives.

Following the meeting, the Azerbaijani delegation familiarized itself with the operations and activities of the Istanbul Çağlayan Palace of Justice.

The meeting was attended by Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Türkiye Rashad Mammadov and the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul Narmina Mustafayeva.
