Islamabad, February 13, 2026 – The Europe Today: As the international community marks World Radio Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to integrating modern technologies—particularly artificial intelligence (AI)—into Radio Pakistan, aiming to transform it into a more dynamic platform for public service, education, health awareness, and national development.
In his message on the occasion, the prime minister stated that since the creation of Pakistan, Radio Pakistan had served as a powerful and unifying medium of communication. He noted that the national broadcaster had played a vital role in fostering unity, spreading awareness, and ensuring access to authentic information for citizens across the country.
Highlighting the country’s rich broadcasting heritage, he described Pakistan’s radio history as “remarkably illustrious,” particularly for its significant contributions to agricultural development, environmental awareness, cultural promotion, and public enlightenment.
Prime Minister Shehbaz observed that as the world rapidly advances into the digital era, radio too is adapting to modern-day requirements and evolving accordingly. Referring to this year’s World Radio Day theme, “Radio and Artificial Intelligence,” he said it reflects how the integration of technology and human creativity can make communication systems more effective, responsive, and inclusive.
He emphasized that Pakistan is taking practical steps to embrace cutting-edge technologies by equipping the younger generation with modern skills and aligning the media sector with global standards.
“Under our government’s Digital Pakistan vision, we are promoting innovation in the media and IT sectors so that Pakistan can achieve a prominent place in the fields of knowledge and technology,” the prime minister said.
Calling for a renewed pledge, he urged stakeholders to modernize Radio Pakistan and other media institutions in line with contemporary requirements, ensuring they remain strong pillars of truth, responsibility, and national unity in the years ahead.
