Munich, February 14, 2026 – The Europe Today: Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that Russia launched approximately 6,000 attack drones against Ukraine in January alone, underscoring the scale of the ongoing assault and urging greater European unity during his address at the Munich Security Conference.
Speaking before global leaders at the high-level summit, Zelensky emphasized that solidarity among European nations remains Ukraine’s strongest line of defense against continued Russian aggression.
“I want you to understand the real scale of these attacks on Ukraine,” he said, pointing to a chart outlining January’s figures.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine had to defend against around 6,000 attack drones—most of them identified as Iranian-designed Shahed drones—alongside more than 150 Russian missiles of various types and over 5,000 glide bombs within a single month.
“And it’s like this every month. Imagine this over your own city,” he told the audience, urging leaders to grasp the magnitude of the sustained bombardment.
Zelensky’s remarks came amid ongoing concerns across Europe about regional security and the long-term trajectory of the war. He stressed that European “unity” is not only politically significant but strategically vital in countering Moscow’s campaign.
Earlier at the conference, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer warned that Europe must prepare itself for a more dangerous security environment, asserting that Russia’s actions demonstrate a clear “appetite for aggression.”
Addressing delegates, Starmer said leaders must avoid hesitation in strengthening collective defense capabilities.
“We must build our hard power, because that is the currency of the age,” he stated. “We must be able to deter aggression, and, yes, if necessary, we must be ready to fight.”
The conference discussions highlighted growing calls for enhanced military preparedness, deeper cooperation among allies, and sustained support for Ukraine as the conflict continues to reshape Europe’s security architecture.
