Atlanta, February 15, 2026 – The Europe Today: American indie rock band Manchester Orchestra has announced the sudden death of their longtime drummer Tim Very at the age of 42, according to media reports.
The Atlanta-based group shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional statement posted on social media on Saturday, February 14, describing Very as “the most beloved human being any of us were lucky enough to know” and saying they remain in “absolute disbelief” over his passing.
Very joined Manchester Orchestra in 2011 and quickly became an integral part of the band’s identity, both onstage and in the recording studio. Over more than a decade, he contributed to some of the band’s most acclaimed albums, including A Black Mile to the Surface and The Million Masks of God, helping shape the group’s expansive and emotionally resonant sound.
In their tribute, the band reflected not only on Very’s musical talent but also on his warmth and character, emphasizing the deep personal impact he had on those around him.
“Tim was instantly likable and interacted with everyone he met with kindness and warmth,” the statement read. “His laugh was infectious and he immediately made people feel invited and encouraged. His humor and energy were the very foundation that held together the entire MO universe.”
The band also highlighted Very’s devotion to his family, describing him as a joyful and dedicated father.
“The only thing that Tim loved more than creating music was being with his family. You’d be pressed to find a more joyful dad,” the statement added.
Concluding their message with gratitude and affection, the band wrote: “We love you Tim, thank you for loving us. You are a force of positivity that will be a constant presence in the rest of our days.”
No further details regarding the circumstances of his passing have been publicly disclosed.
