Florida, February 20, 2026 – The Europe Today: An airport in the U.S. state of Florida is set to be renamed in honor of President Donald Trump after the state legislature approved a bill authorizing the change.
According to state records and media reports, lawmakers voted on Thursday to rename Palm Beach International Airport as the “President Donald J. Trump International Airport.” The measure now awaits the signature of Governor Ron DeSantis, who is widely expected to sign it into law.
Located in the coastal town of Palm Beach, the airport lies just minutes from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence and serves as a major gateway to the region, known for its beaches and upscale estates. Before the renaming can formally take effect, the proposal must also receive approval from the Federal Aviation Administration.
If finalized, the airport would join a growing number of institutions bearing the president’s name. In December, the board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts voted to rename the venue the “Trump-Kennedy Center.” During the same month, the United States Institute of Peace reportedly added Trump’s name to its official designation.
Reports also indicate that proposals to rename New York’s Penn Station and Washington Dulles International Airport after Trump were considered but did not receive approval.
Separately, the U.S. Treasury Department confirmed that draft designs have been prepared for a commemorative $1 coin featuring Trump’s image, despite longstanding laws that prohibit portraying a sitting or living president on U.S. currency.
In another notable development, a large blue banner displaying Trump’s portrait was recently hung across the headquarters of the Justice Department, an institution traditionally regarded as independent from political influence.
The renaming initiative reflects ongoing efforts by supporters to honor President Trump’s legacy through federal and state-level symbolic recognitions.
