Azerbaijan’s Population Reaches 10.26 Million as of January 2026

Baku, February 21, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s population rose to 10,262,351 as of January 1, 2026, marking an increase of 37,462 people, or 0.4 percent, compared to the previous year, according to data released by the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

The latest figures indicate steady demographic growth across the country, reflecting continued population expansion.

According to the committee’s report, 54.3 percent of the population resides in urban areas, while 45.7 percent lives in rural regions, highlighting a moderately urbanized demographic structure.

In terms of gender composition, men account for 49.8 percent of the population, while women represent 50.2 percent, indicating a balanced distribution between the two.

The updated statistics provide an important snapshot of Azerbaijan’s demographic trends and urban-rural distribution at the start of 2026.
