Ashgabat, February 22, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed an order directing the distribution of cash gifts to women and girls across the country in observance of International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8, according to official Turkmen media.
The decree acknowledges the significant contributions of Turkmen women to the nation’s prosperity, the implementation of wide-ranging reforms, and their vital role in raising loyal, healthy and spiritually developed generations. It also underscores the country’s traditional respect for mothers and sisters. The initiative follows Presidential Resolution No. 1152, issued on February 27, 2019, which established the practice of awarding cash gifts to women on International Women’s Day.
Under the new order, cash gifts of 60 manat will be distributed between March 2 and 6, 2026, in ceremonial settings nationwide. The beneficiaries include women employed at enterprises, institutions and organizations regardless of ownership, pensioners, recipients of state allowances, postgraduate and doctoral students, clinical residents, and students enrolled in programs of at least two years at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Turkmenistan. Schoolgirls and preschool-aged children are also among those eligible to receive the cash gifts.
The nationwide celebrations will feature concerts, art exhibitions and theatrical performances across the provinces, as well as in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag. A gala concert is scheduled to take place at the Palace of Mukams as part of the festive program.
During its latest session, the Cabinet of Ministers also reviewed and adopted decisions on a range of other key national issues.
