Swedish Broadcaster Reports Serious Threat to Nordic Energy Network

Stockholm, February 27, 2026 – The Europe Today: Swedish commercial broadcaster TV4 News has reported that an individual believed to be linked to a foreign power has issued a serious threat directed at the energy network of Nordic countries.

Citing unnamed sources, TV4 described the threat as severe in nature and one that should be treated with utmost seriousness. The report, published around midday on Thursday, indicated that several Swedish authorities are engaged in a joint international effort and are actively working on the case.

As the threat is said to target the broader Nordic energy network, it would also include Finland.

However, Santeri Iltanen from the communications unit of the Finnish Security Intelligence Service (Supo) told Finnish public broadcaster Yle that the agency is not aware of any specific or imminent threat at this time.

Other Finnish authorities contacted by Yle, including the national grid operator Fingrid, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the ministries of defence and interior, had not commented on the matter as of Thursday.

Officials in both Sweden and Finland have yet to provide further public details regarding the nature or origin of the reported threat.
