Islamabad: President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for Pakistan in its fight against terrorism during a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, while both leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and the need for diplomatic engagement to reduce tensions.

According to a statement issued by the Turkish Presidency on Tuesday, President Erdogan strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks carried out in Pakistan and reiterated that Türkiye would continue to stand firmly with Islamabad in its counter-terrorism efforts.

President Erdogan also stated that Türkiye would contribute to the re-establishment of the ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which had earlier been achieved through Türkiye’s diplomatic initiatives.

Highlighting the need for renewed diplomacy, Erdogan emphasized that re-engaging in diplomatic efforts in the region—particularly in light of the tensions triggered by the recent attacks on Iran—would be highly beneficial. He added that Türkiye stands ready to extend all possible support toward efforts aimed at de-escalation and regional stability.

Meanwhile, according to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan held a detailed discussion on the prevailing regional situation.

During the conversation, both leaders underscored the importance of maximum restraint by all parties to prevent further escalation in the region.

Expressing deep concern over the worsening crisis in the Middle East, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the Israeli attack on Iran and the subsequent regrettable attacks on several brotherly Gulf countries.

The prime minister also briefed President Erdogan on his recent outreach to the leadership of the Gulf countries, reaffirming Pakistan’s full solidarity with them and conveying Islamabad’s readiness to play a constructive role in diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the crisis.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif further took President Erdogan into confidence regarding the latest developments concerning Afghanistan.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close and regular contact and to continue working together for the promotion of peace, stability, and diplomatic solutions in the region.
