Ashgabat, March 7, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has appointed a new Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations in New York during a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on Friday, according to the Watan Habarlary news program.
According to the report, Aksoltan Atayeva Toreyevna was relieved of her duties as Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations in New York. She was also released from her additional responsibilities as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Cuba, the Federative Republic of Brazil, and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela due to her transfer to another position.
President Berdimuhamedov appointed Vepa Segsengeldiyevich Hajiyev as the new Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations in New York. In connection with the new appointment, Hajiyev was relieved of his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Swiss Confederation, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Office in Geneva, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Vatican.
Hajiyev previously served as Turkmenistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for many years before being appointed to senior diplomatic posts representing the country in Geneva and Switzerland.
The Cabinet meeting also reviewed several other important issues related to state affairs, and the relevant decisions were adopted.
