Moscow, March 10, 2026 – The Europe Today: U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the ongoing war involving Iran and several other international issues, the Kremlin said.

According to the Russian readout, the conversation was described as “businesslike, constructive, and frank.” The statement was released by Moscow before any corresponding announcement from the White House, according to media reports.

During the call, President Putin presented proposals aimed at achieving a swift political and diplomatic resolution to the conflict in Iran. The war has intensified since the United States and Israel launched coordinated military strikes on Feb. 28, triggering sustained military operations in the region.

For his part, President Trump reiterated his interest in securing a rapid ceasefire and pursuing a long-term settlement to the conflict in Ukraine, according to the Kremlin’s account of the conversation.

The two leaders also exchanged views on developments in Venezuela and other international matters. Moscow said both sides expressed readiness to maintain regular communication going forward.

The phone call comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions linked to the Middle East conflict and ongoing efforts by world powers to seek diplomatic solutions to multiple international crises.
