Ankara, March 14, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz on Friday reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for the Iranian people while stressing that attacks by Iran against friendly and neighboring countries are unacceptable.
Speaking to CNN Türk, Yılmaz said Ankara maintains a principled position regarding the ongoing conflict involving Iran.
“Türkiye takes a principled stance in support of the Iranian people. It clearly states that attacks against Iran are unacceptable,” he said, while emphasizing that aggression directed toward neighboring and friendly nations cannot be justified.
Responding to reports about missiles allegedly launched from Iran toward Türkiye, Yılmaz said the Turkish government is evaluating the situation calmly and carefully.
“The Republic of Türkiye is a state with traditions. It is not a state that makes decisions based on emotions or sudden reflexes,” he said.
“It is a state capable of analyzing every development in a multidimensional way, considering its advantages, disadvantages, and long-term consequences,” the vice president added.
Yılmaz noted that Türkiye has repeatedly warned against such incidents and expressed hope that similar developments would not occur again.
He also underscored that Ankara will continue to take all necessary precautions to protect the country against any potential threats.
“We have repeatedly said and warned that it should not happen. We hope it will not happen again,” Yılmaz said, adding that Türkiye remains vigilant in safeguarding its national security and regional stability.
