Trump Claims Iran Sending Oil Tankers as ‘Sign of Respect’ Amid Ongoing Negotiations

Trump

Washington, March 30, 2026 – The Europe Today: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran is sending 20 oil tankers to the United States through the Strait of Hormuz, describing the move as a “sign of respect” amid ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while en route to Washington, Trump said the shipments would begin “starting Monday morning,” referring to them as “big, big boats of oil” transiting the strategic maritime route, according to media reports.

“And now, today, they gave us, as a tribute… 20 boats of oil,” Trump stated, while acknowledging that he could not fully define the specifics of the arrangement.

The US president noted that Washington is currently engaged in negotiations with Tehran both directly and indirectly, expressing optimism about the prospects of a deal, though stopping short of guaranteeing an outcome.

“I would only say that we’re doing extremely well in that negotiation,” he said, adding that a potential agreement “could be soon.”

Trump further indicated that discussions involve a “new group of people” and claimed that progress in the talks was “ahead of schedule.”

His remarks come at a time of heightened diplomatic and security tensions between the United States and Iran, with ongoing negotiations reportedly focusing on broader regional stability and ceasefire-related proposals.

Iranian authorities have not publicly confirmed Trump’s claim regarding the reported oil shipments at the time of filing this report.
