Amman, March 30, 2026 – The Europe Today: Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with King Abdullah II in Amman on Sunday, focusing on prospects for enhanced security cooperation and the evolving situation in the Middle East.
During the meeting, President Zelenskyy highlighted Ukraine’s readiness to collaborate with regional partners in strengthening defense systems against drone and missile threats. Drawing on Ukraine’s experience in countering sustained aerial attacks, he emphasized the importance of integrated defense mechanisms to protect civilians and critical infrastructure.
“Without a unified system, it is impossible to establish comprehensive protection,” Zelenskyy said, noting that Ukraine has developed such capabilities over years of defending against continuous strikes during the ongoing conflict.
He further underscored that Kyiv’s expertise in countering drone warfare could be shared with partner countries, while also contributing to Ukraine’s own security through mutual cooperation.
The discussions come amid heightened tensions in the region, following the escalation of hostilities involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. Zelenskyy noted that several Middle Eastern countries have sought Ukraine’s assistance in addressing threats posed by drone attacks.
The conflict has seen widespread exchanges of missile and drone strikes across the region, affecting multiple countries and impacting civilian infrastructure as well as global markets and aviation routes.
Zelenskyy’s visit to Jordan forms part of a broader regional tour that included stops in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
During his visit to Qatar, Ukraine signed a long-term defense agreement, while in the UAE, Zelenskyy held talks on defense cooperation with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In Saudi Arabia, he met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah, where both sides concluded a defense cooperation agreement.
The Amman meeting reflects growing engagement between Ukraine and Middle Eastern partners as Kyiv seeks to expand its defense partnerships and share expertise in countering modern security threats.
