Samsung Galaxy S26 Faces Delayed Android Updates, Trails Pixel in Timely Rollouts

Seoul, April 6, 2026 – The Europe Today: Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S26, has encountered an unusual delay in receiving Android security updates, underscoring the company’s continued lag behind Google’s Google Pixel devices in update timeliness, according to media reports.

Typically known for prioritizing its newest flagship models, Samsung deviated from expectations as the Galaxy S26 launched with One UI 8.5 based on an outdated February 2026 security patch, bypassing a more recent update cycle. Although the device has since received two firmware updates, neither included the March 2026 security patch, raising concerns among users.

In contrast, Google Pixel smartphones are widely recognized for receiving near-instant security and feature updates directly from Google, setting an industry benchmark for software support.

In response to the delay, Samsung has begun rolling out the April 2026 security patch at the start of the month. According to reports, the Galaxy S26 has become the first S-series device to receive this latest update, though a full global rollout is still pending.

While the update brings the device up to date, the lag in its release highlights ongoing challenges for Samsung in matching the rapid update delivery offered by Pixel devices.
