Ashgabat, April 6, 2026 – The Europe Today: Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, held a meeting on April 6, 2026, with Lee Won-jae, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan, during which the envoy presented copies of his credentials.
At the outset, the Turkmen side warmly congratulated Ambassador Lee on his appointment and conveyed best wishes for success in his diplomatic mission aimed at further strengthening the longstanding friendly relations between the two countries.
The meeting underscored Turkmenistan’s strong commitment to advancing its partnership with the South Korea, which is rooted in mutual trust, respect, and enduring friendship. Both sides highlighted the importance of high-level exchanges and continued political dialogue in deepening bilateral cooperation.
During the discussions, the parties reaffirmed their intention to enhance collaboration within international frameworks and emphasized the value of expanding interparliamentary contacts as a key pillar of bilateral engagement.
The two sides also noted the significant potential for boosting trade and economic cooperation, expressing keen interest in fostering closer ties between the business communities of Turkmenistan and South Korea.
In addition, prospects for expanding cultural and humanitarian collaboration were explored, alongside opportunities to strengthen cooperation in education and sports.
Concluding the meeting, the Turkmen side reiterated its readiness to provide full support to Ambassador Lee in the execution of his diplomatic duties in Turkmenistan.
