Ethiopian Ambassador Presents Credentials to President Zardari, Vows to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Islamabad, April 7, 2026 – The Europe Today: Oumer Hussien Oba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Ethiopia, presented his Letters of Credence to Asif Ali Zardari during an official ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Following the credential presentation, President Zardari held a bilateral meeting with the ambassador to review the full spectrum of relations between Pakistan and Ethiopia. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation at bilateral as well as multilateral levels.

The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in key strategic sectors, including climate change, aviation, agriculture, and business, with a view to unlocking the vast potential for deeper engagement between the two countries.

On the occasion, Ambassador Dr. Oumer conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Taye Atske Selassie and Abiy Ahmed Ali to the leadership and people of Pakistan. He also expressed Ethiopia’s appreciation for Pakistan’s “Look Africa” and “Engage Africa” policies, highlighting Islamabad’s growing outreach toward East African nations.

President Zardari reciprocated the sentiments, extending his greetings to the Ethiopian leadership and wishing the ambassador a successful diplomatic tenure in Pakistan. He underscored Pakistan’s keen interest in elevating diplomatic and economic relations with Ethiopia.

Ambassador Dr. Oumer reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Government of Pakistan to promote a strong, mutually beneficial partnership during his assignment in Islamabad.
