Baku, April 7, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has stated that a new geopolitical reality is emerging in the South Caucasus, urging regional countries to seize the opportunities for lasting peace and cooperation.

Speaking during a joint press statement with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze in Baku, President Aliyev emphasized that while many parts of the world continue to face instability, the South Caucasus is moving toward a more stable and cooperative future.

“Today, an entirely new situation is emerging in the South Caucasus, and the countries located in the region must not miss these opportunities,” President Aliyev said.

He noted that global conflicts and unrest continue to disrupt peace and security in various regions, resulting in wars, suffering, and human losses. Drawing a comparison, the Azerbaijani leader recalled that the South Caucasus had previously experienced similar instability.

“However, today the South Caucasus is already becoming a place of peace, tranquility, security, and cooperation,” he added.

The remarks underscore growing optimism among regional leaders regarding enhanced collaboration and stability, as Azerbaijan and Georgia continue to strengthen their strategic partnership across political, economic, and infrastructure domains.
