Tashkent, October 22, 2024 – The Europe Today: A ceremonial enlightenment event in honor of Uzbek Language Day was held at the Palace of International Forums “Uzbekistan,” celebrating the rich linguistic heritage of the nation. During the event, Khayriddin Sultanov, Presidential Advisor, conveyed the festive congratulations from the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to the Uzbek people.
The event highlighted the state’s commitment to preserving and promoting the Uzbek language. In recent years, Uzbekistan has implemented key initiatives aimed at enhancing the status of the native language at the state level. These efforts include the establishment of the Department of State Language Development, the Uzbek Language Development Fund, and the Center for Teaching the Basics of Office Work in the State Language. Additionally, the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, named after Alisher Navoi, plays a vital role in advancing language education and training.
Foreign students and representatives from various nationalities, eager to learn and appreciate the Uzbek language, participated by reciting excerpts from works by prominent Uzbek poets. Their enthusiasm and respect for the language were clearly reflected in their performances.
The audience was also captivated by video presentations showcasing the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan to promote the Uzbek language. A special highlight was an excerpt from the play Kunduzsiz Kechalar (“Endless Nights”) by Usman Azim, featuring the talented linguist Saidrizo Alizoda, who is fluent in 14 languages.
A concert featuring renowned artists and young performers added to the vibrant atmosphere of the event, giving it a unique and celebratory spirit.
