Astana, August 19, 2025 – The Europe Today: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Monday met with Chairwoman of the Uzbek Senate Tanzila Norbaeva to discuss the strengthening of the Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan strategic partnership and alliance, with a particular focus on interparliamentary ties, according to media reports.
Welcoming the Uzbek Senate Chairwoman in Astana, President Tokayev underscored the special nature of bilateral relations, describing the visit as a clear demonstration of the countries’ close cooperation. He praised Norbaeva’s role in enhancing friendship and good-neighborliness between the two Central Asian nations.
“We attach utmost importance to developing cooperation with fraternal Uzbekistan and believe that it is a key factor in ensuring stability and security in the Central Asian region. The better, closer, and more productive relations between our nations, the more peaceful the situation in the region will be,” Tokayev stated.
For her part, Norbaeva thanked Tokayev for the warm reception and conveyed greetings from Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. She reaffirmed that Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan remain the “closest and most reliable partners.”
The meeting also addressed the further development of interparliamentary diplomacy, as well as expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of boosting cultural and humanitarian ties as part of their growing partnership.
Concluding the talks, President Tokayev extended his warm wishes to his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
