Baku, August 20, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum will on Wednesday open a personal exhibition titled Carpet Magic Through the Echoes of Centuries by renowned artist Milena Nabiyeva, a member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan and UNESCO.
The exhibition will showcase around 50 artworks created by Nabiyeva across different periods, with Azerbaijani carpet compositions and ornaments serving as central elements. Alongside these, national architecture, natural landscapes, and floral motifs are intricately reflected through contemporary fine art.
Nabiyeva is distinguished by her unique artistic approach: she first depicts traditional ornaments on canvas and then constructs the main plot upon this background. This technique achieves harmony between carpet motifs and representations of Azerbaijani architectural monuments, nature, and cultural heritage. Notable works such as Quince from the Garden of Eden, Sunday Morning, Malibeyli, Falling in Love, Love Bouquet, and Self-Confidence Bouquet exemplify this style, blending the aesthetic codes of the past with modern creative thinking.
The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum noted that the decision to host this exhibition reflects the strong presence of carpet themes in Nabiyeva’s work. The museum has consistently supported artists who incorporate carpet motifs into their creations, and this exhibition continues that tradition.
Nabiyeva’s works have previously been presented at exhibitions in Baku, Paris, Ankara, and Saint Petersburg. The current exhibition represents the next stage in her artistic journey, highlighting Azerbaijani cultural heritage through vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and innovative ideas.
Carpet Magic Through the Echoes of Centuries will run until September 21.
