Almaty Sees 6.5% Growth in Tourist Arrivals in First Half of 2025

Almaty, September 12, 2025 — The Europe Today: More than 1.14 million tourists visited Almaty in the first half of 2025, marking a 6.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year, the city akimat reported. Of this total, 323,500 were foreign visitors.

India accounted for the highest number of arrivals with 56,200 tourists, followed closely by China with 54,100—an increase of 33.4 percent year-on-year. Other key source markets included Türkiye with 17,900 visitors, South Korea with 9,700, the United States with 9,600, the United Arab Emirates with 6,700, and Germany with 6,500.

The city’s tourism department attributed the growth in international arrivals to ongoing efforts to improve tourism infrastructure and expand modern services for visitors. Almaty continues to enhance its appeal as a destination for both leisure and business travel by broadening the geography of tourist flows and ensuring comfortable conditions for guests.

Notably, according to the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index 2025, Almaty was recognized as the best city in Central Asia, further strengthening its reputation as a leading regional tourism hub.
