Jakarta, September 15, 2025 — The Europe Today: Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Science, and Technology Fauzan has called on university students to strengthen their personal and professional capacities, emphasizing their role as key drivers of Indonesia’s future.
Speaking at a public lecture during the student orientation at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) for the 2025–26 academic year on Saturday, Fauzan highlighted that students have a social duty to lead by example both on and off campus.
“Students must be role models wherever they are. Learning must go beyond classrooms — it should be rooted in real-life experiences,” he stated in a press release on Sunday.
Fauzan outlined the government’s human capital development agenda under President Prabowo Subianto’s Astacita strategy, which positions education as a pathway to achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. He emphasized the ministry’s efforts to enhance higher education through research, innovation, and transformative learning, under the “Diktisaintek Berdampak” initiative.
Highlighting Indonesia’s demographic bonus, where the working-age population outnumbers dependents, Fauzan urged universities to adapt to evolving student needs with inclusive, relevant, and flexible learning approaches. “Universities must be agile and responsive, enabling students to learn anywhere, anytime. This is how we shape exceptional individuals,” he said.
The Deputy Minister reaffirmed the ministry’s support for student-led initiatives, emphasizing inclusive policy, forward-looking education, and strong backing for innovation and research. He encouraged students to embrace their role in nation-building by cultivating strong character, expanding capacities, and collaborating to create a more competitive and empowered Indonesia by 2045.
The orientation event marked the start of the new academic year and underscored the government’s commitment to positioning higher education as a key national development priority.
