Jakarta, October 5, 2025 – The Europe Today:  Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto received his predecessor, Joko Widodo — popularly known as Jokowi — for a meeting at his private residence in Jakarta on Saturday afternoon. The two leaders held discussions lasting nearly two hours, according to official confirmation from Jokowi’s aide, Police Commissioner Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah.

Fitriansyah confirmed the meeting on Saturday evening but did not provide details regarding the topics discussed, noting only that the meeting had concluded and that the former president had continued with his scheduled activities.

This marks the second meeting between President Prabowo and former President Jokowi in recent months. Their previous encounter took place on July 20 at Jokowi’s residence in Solo, Central Java, where they met for approximately 40 minutes.

During the July meeting, President Prabowo briefed Jokowi on his official overseas visits from July 1–15, which included bilateral meetings in Europe and Brazil. A key highlight of those discussions was the conclusion of the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-EU CEPA), successfully finalized after a decade of negotiations.

“I just returned from a trip abroad. He had been following the developments. I shared our breakthroughs with the European Union after 10 years of talks,” Prabowo had said following the Solo meeting.

That meeting also covered Prabowo’s participation in the BRICS Summit in Brazil, where he met President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, as well as his bilateral engagements in London, Belgium, France, and Belarus.

Both meetings between the two leaders were held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere. The July talks concluded with the pair sharing a traditional Javanese dinner of bakmi jawa (Javanese noodles), reflecting their continued spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect.
