Iran Reaffirms Support for Gaza Ceasefire and Palestinian Self-Determination

Ceasefire

Tehran, October 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday issued a statement regarding the ongoing ceasefire plan in Gaza, emphasizing that Iran supports any initiative aimed at halting ethnic cleansing, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, while upholding the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.

The statement recalled the legal and moral responsibility of the international community to confront the ongoing genocide in Gaza in accordance with the 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide. It stressed that each state also has a duty to support the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people against occupation, apartheid, and colonialism imposed by the Zionist regime.

Iran affirmed that it has consistently supported initiatives that halt atrocities in Gaza and provide a framework for realizing Palestinian self-determination. The Foreign Ministry warned against the repeated breaches and sabotage by the Zionist regime, particularly in light of its expansionist and discriminatory policies. It underlined that decisions regarding Gaza must ultimately rest with the Palestinian people and resistance movements.

The statement welcomed any Palestinian-led measures that aim to stop the genocide, ensure the withdrawal of the occupying forces from Gaza, respect the Palestinians’ right to self-determination, facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid, and support the reconstruction of Gaza.

Iran also stressed that halting the atrocities does not relieve governments and international institutions of their legal obligation to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity in Gaza, aiming to end decades of impunity for the Zionist regime.

Finally, the Islamic Republic expressed hope for the immediate delivery of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza and announced its readiness to participate in relief efforts.
